Show Aviation Officials Study Local Field As a result of the visit to Mil- , ford this week of three high j authorities in aviation circles the j groundwork has been laid for ; transfer of the local field to the ' jurisdiction of the town, thus plac-1 ing Milford in line for extensive improvement im-provement of the field and addition' addi-tion' of hangar facilities. Spending Wednesday in Milford in connection connec-tion with this work were Colonel Jot Bergin, director of the Utah State Aeronautics commission, and H. A. Gerard, district ah-port engineer, en-gineer, airport service, for the Civil Aeronautics commission, with headquarters in Prescott, Arizona. Also present Wednesday and all I day Thursday was H. K. Friedland of Santa Monica, California, airways air-ways engineer for the C. A. A.,' federal airways service. As a result of the visit and careful care-ful investigation, a site was selected se-lected for a hangar, to be constructed con-structed immediately south of the beacon on land recently purchased by the town. In an interview with a News representative, Mr. Friedland summarized sum-marized previous correspondence with town authorities and outlined plans for the town to acquire that portion of the field which is government land, the airways service ser-vice being willing to release its portion of the property so the town can take it over. This will clear the town's title so that the municipality can enter into an agreement whereby the town will be responsible for the field surface, thus permitting further commercial commer-cial development, while the C. A. A. will continue to be responsible for the lighting of the field. V |
