Show Funeral Held For John Allburn, 77 A brief but impressive funeral service for John Allburn, 77, was preacnen ounaay anernoon ac rne L. D. S. chapel by Miss Lucile Es-tes, Es-tes, deaconess-pastor of the local M. E. church, and another well known Milford character was given a well-earned rest in the local cemetery, former Bishop William A. Miller dedicating the grave. John Allburn, familiarly known to many old residents of Milford by the name of "Johnny Behind-the-Hock" probably from the fact that his trade was that of a mason, and a very good one in his day was born April 2!), 1850, a native of Pennsylvania. For 57 years he practised his trade of stone mason, having made his home in Milford for about 35 years. During the past summer he had devoted himself to the care of the Methodist church grounds und the care and attention he gave to his work was outstanding in a man of his years. He suffered a desperate des-perate sick spell about two years ago but recovered from that and remained fairly well until this last spell of illness during which h was cared for by James Lang until his removal to the hospital, where he died early in the morning of October 2. So far as known, thore are no close relatives who survive him. |
