Show farmers Afforded Another Chance At AAA Beneiits 1 Farmers of Beaver county who have been advised that they were ineligible for benefit payments under the agricultural conservation piogram, many now find that they i will qualify for grants because of modifications in the plan, due to drouth, according to Golden L. Stoker, county agent. This change makes it possible for farmers to receive the soil j building payments, such as pay-j pay-j ments for seeding alfalfa, clover I perennial grasses, etc., without be-, be-, ing penalized for increasing his I soil depleting crops, such as wheat, oats, corn, potatoes, etc. I In view of these modifications in the program, the state commit-I commit-I tee has given the county commit-j commit-j tee permission to sign up addition-I addition-I al farmers who are now eligible for payment but were ineligible previously. This additional sign-up must be completed immediately, j ! according to Mr. Stoker, and those who have not signed a work sheet will have an opportunity to do so I at one of the following meeting ; places on the days specified: i Milford (Thursday, Friday, Monday, Mon-day, Tuesday and Wednesday, Sep-I Sep-I temiber 3-9, 7 to 9 p.m., at the El-I El-I don Cates residence in South Mil-! Mil-! ford. Minersville Same days as for: Milford, September 3-9, 6 to 9' p.m. at William Wood residence. Greenville Friday, Monday and , Tuesday, Sept 4-8, 7 to 9 p.m., at! Blaine Blackett residence. Beaver On Thursday, Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, September Septem-ber 3-9, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the county agent's office in the court house. Those who have carried out the following soil building practice this year are eligible for payments as follows: New seedings of perennial legumes le-gumes such as alfalfa, clovers, etc., when seeded between September Septem-ber 10, 1935 and September 15, 1936, eligible for payments of $3.50 per acre on irrigated land, or $2.00 per acre on non-irrigated land. Biennial legumes When seeded during sa.me period, eligible for i payments of $2.50 on irrigated j land or $1.50 on non-irrigated land Annual legumes When seeded , during same period, $1.50 on irri-! irri-! gated land or $1.00 on non-irrigat-j ed land. , Perennial grasses When seeded during same period, $3.50 on irrigated irri-gated land or $2.00 on non-irrigated land. Payments are also made for green manure crops, terracing, gully gul-ly control and protected summer fallow. Mr. Stoker suggests that anyone who has planted, or intends to plant any alfalfa, clover or grasses grass-es this year, would do well to fill out a work sheet. |
