Show Civic Clubs Hold j ! Monthly Meeting 1 At Kane Capital Members and directors of the Associated Civic Clubs of Southern Utah, meeting at Kanab Saturday j afternoon, voted to urge members , of the Utah congressional delega- j tion to immediately take steps to : assure Utah of a fair deal in con- j nection with its interests in the water of the Colorado river and in ' the Boulder dam project. A resolution will be sent to I Senators William H. King and El-! bert D. Thomas and Representa-1 tives Abe Murdock and J. Will Robinson, pointing out that since Utah and Colorado furnish approximately ap-proximately 80 per cent of the water in the river that Utah is en-I en-I titled to some definite considera-j considera-j tion in construction of new reclamation re-clamation projects and from proposed pro-posed reductions of power and I interest rates to lower basin states, i A motion calling for the resolution resolu-tion and naming Frank G. I As a means of diverting a part ; of the traffic now using highway 66 from the west coast to the east ! over No. 89, a contract was approved ap-proved Saturday for erection of a sign at the junction of the twi roads to call attention to scenic ! attractions of southern Utah and i northern Arizona. The sign will j be 42 feet long and 12 feet high.: i A similar sign already has been ! erected at Las Vegas, Nevada, i Other matters acted upon by the ! association included a request for a ranger or custodian to take charge of the Capitol Reef national nation-al monument; an urgent request to . H. H. MacDonard, chief of the .bureau of public roads, to make a ; survey of the proposed road to ' connect Wayne and San Juan , counties, and plans for the election , of new officers to take place at the November meeting. I The meeting was sponsored by the Kanab Lions club and the Kane county directors, Elmer Jackson and Preston Bunting. President i C. W. Love jr. presided.
