Show NOT MUCH IMPROVEMENT Newspapers of the Utah Press association wholeheartedly supported the raise in pay from $1.00 to $10.00 per day for legislators. In fact, the passage of the amendment can be largely credited to this organization which placed the infoc-mation infoc-mation on the merits of the amendment before the people. The main idea Was that a better class of lawmakers could be induced to serve the people, that we would have better laws, that law-makers could become independent of "expense money" put up by selfish interests. We heard one man, who was opposed to the pay raise amendment say that "they're only worth $4.00 a day". After reading over some of the bills introduced before the present legislature, maybe he was right at that. A lot of 'em must be $4.00 men in $10.00 jobs.
