Show With the Colors From Technical Sergeant Gordon W. Murdock Ephrata, Washington, August 26, 1942. Editor David S. Williams, Wil-liams, Milford, Utah. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Williams: Through the Milford News 1 wish to thank Mrs. Erma Cline and Mrs. Nina Bingham and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion for the very nice writing folio and handkerchief received in the mail yesterday. It means more than a lot to know that one is remembered re-membered and that our small efforts ef-forts are appreciated. With the 'knowledge that we are being backed, remembered, and encouraged encour-aged on the home front, it is much easier to "keep 'em flying!" We have recently started a cam. paign for War Savings bonds in this squadron. I have been named bond supervisor and campaign N.C.O. and, with cooperation from two other fellows, we have taken applications for bond reservations reserva-tions in the amount of $700 (non-maturity (non-maturity value) in the last day and a half. Our goal is to have lOOTr participation and the goal is in sight. Several fellows have subscribed to bonds with $75 a month reservations, these reservations reser-vations being for an indefinite period. Isn't that a fair average for men that are making a minimum mini-mum of salary and who already i are doing their part? It looks to me like a lottery. Soldiers do a fair amount of gambling and, although al-though this isn't a gamble, the soldiers are betting on themselves to come through as winners. With this attitude we can't and won't lose! Undoubtedly this will be my last correspondence with The News before we leave the country, so I wish to take this opportunity to say "Adios" to all of my friends in Milford; and, until we meet again, Keep 'em BuyingBonds and Stamps! GORDON W. MURDOCK Second Lieutenant Thomas Karl Hanney passed through Milford Thursday morning on his way to an assignment in Arizona though he had expected to be staioned in Salt Lake City for the time being.
