Gleason plays the role of a i lunch counter proprietor who believes be-lieves he can clear up a fortune on the races, while Miss Pitts is seen as his chief obstacle to quick j riches, exercising a firm hold on the family bankroll. "Hot Tip" is ' a fast moving story played against the beautiful background of Santa Anita, California, scene of the world's richest racing stake, where much of the action of the picture takes place. It brings to the screen for the first time a story that does not run true to the form of the average race track. It finds Gleason playing the races with money furnished by his daughter's sweetheart in order to obtain funds for the wedding. When Gleason Glea-son switches horses and loses the boy's money, complications set in that are solved by a most unusual ending. Included in the supporting support-ing cast are Margaret Callahan, Russell Gleason, Ray Mayer and Willie Best. A short subject and a comedy will also be shown. |
