Show Milford Becomes Center for ! Spring Training of Race Horses 1 ; Milford's Three - Day Spring I Race Meet, set for Friday, Satur- J day and Sunday, June 2S-29-30, has j I met with an enthusiastic response! (throughout Utah and neighboring i I states, not alone from tbe angle, !of furnishing three big days of ' entertainment, but also for the 'splendid opportunity afforded for race horse men doing their spring j tracing on the local track. As a result, Milford promises to be race ! horse headquarters for the state all spring, the June 28-30 meet coming as a fitting climax to such training, timed as it is, just be- fore July racing gets' underway. Inquiries are pouring in daily, asking for information relative to the meet, and this is jeing prepared pre-pared and will be given wide distribution dis-tribution in the near future. Milford's ideal training weather, standard half-mile race track with its quick-drying soil formation, and the wellknown hospitality of j our people, combine to offer spring training advantages second to none in the state and race j horse men have been quick to i sense these facts. Another ad- vantage is the availability of the I standard starting gate, construct-I construct-I ed for ist year's county fair, and ! invaluable to trainers of inex-' inex-' perienced or flighty horses, j The meet, first spring event of j its kind to be held in Milford for many years, will be under the di-i di-i rection of the Milford Valley Rac-iing Rac-iing association, and eighfj races ; will be run each day, according to ; D. E. Kii'k, chairman, who was likewise the moving spirit con-i con-i nected with last year's county ; fair and race meet, which were ! pronounced a great success and ! the track "the fastest track in the i state", despite unfavorable wea-' wea-' ther conditions. Purses for the j three-day June meet will aggre-i aggre-i gate $1525 and everything pos-j pos-j sible will be done to insure the (Satisfaction of race horse men and ' the public alike. j Hay will be furnished free of i charge for the three days of the meet and feeds for the training period will be availible from local dealers at market prices. Reservations Reser-vations for stables should be made early to E. L. Smith, association i secretary. There will be no entry jfees charged for any of the races. I A comprehensive fair grounds ! improvement program has begun j this week, the project including further work on the track and the j planting of shade trees in vari-'ous vari-'ous parts of .the grounds. I Also being planned are night j shows for all three night of the j meet, with a Hollywood booking ; concern furnishing the acts, as was done at fair time last fall. I The general committee for the meet, in addition to Mr. Kirk, includes in-cludes E. R. Moody, vice-chairman; E. L. Smith, secretary-treasurer; J. D.
