The people of Milford are to be commended for their patriotic spirh in backing the Fburth War Loan drfhie as they have, and all organizations and individuals who have helped in any way and are still helping desenvte a vote of thlanks for their efforts. It is an accomplishment well worth while. With several days left to wind up this drive it . looks as if the quota set for 'Milford will be surpassed sur-passed by a large margin. This should he a great satisfaction to local people, thus letting their boys in the services see that they are really behind them. Captain M. L. Hall of the United Unit-ed States army Thursday afternoon after-noon of last week gave a very interesting talk and demonstration demonstra-tion to the students of both Milford Mil-ford schools. He was accompanied accom-panied here by two war heroes, wounded in action and just recently recent-ly released from the Bushnell general hospital at Brigham City. These boys told of their experiences experi-ences in action and they answered any and all questions asked by the students. It so happened that one of the fellows was a buddy of Corporal Othello Baker, first of Milford's service men to give his life for his country. They were together all through their preliminary training train-ing and up to the action in the Aleutian Islands, where Thell was killed in action. Captain Hall demonstrated the various weapons that our boys in Uncle Sam's seifvice are using, giving in detail the cost, uses and importance of the different types under varying conditions. All in all, it was very interesting interest-ing and enlightening. The same performance was held over for an (fvlening meeting to accomodate those unable to attend during the afternoon, but this session was very poorly attended. However, those who did not attend really missed something worth while. The purpose of this demonstration demonstra-tion was to give the people of Milford first-hand information as to where the money they are spending goes and what it is used for. v |
