Lunch was served at a large table with fall j flowers- as the centerpiece and smallparasols as favors. Those pre- j sent were Mrs. Vern Shingleton, j Mrs. E. R. Guye, Mrs. R. J. Magill,' Mrs. Ross Baxter, Mrs. J. E. Wil-! son, Mrs. William Morris and Mrs. j J. P. Holm. Prizes were won by Mrs. Magill, Mrs. Baxter, Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Shingleton. Milford's first World War II casualty arrived home Monday in the person of Vernett Patterson. Looking fine in his uniform de-j spite a temporarily-fitted' artif i-1 cial leg, he is feeling well now af. j ter a long period of hospitalization j at Hot Springs, Arkansas. Mr. j Patterson had long been bothered j with varicose veins when-he was! inducted into the army, marching activities after entering the service ser-vice having tended to aggravate the condition. It finally became necessary to amputate his right leg. i 'George B. McCaughey of Springfield, Spring-field, Ohio is thoroughly enjoying an extended visit in Milford with his son,- 0. L. McCaughey, and family. This is the first time out west for the elder Mr. McCaughey and the first time in nine years that father and son have "seen each ; other. The iStter is operator in 1 charge of the local airways radio station and acting athletic coach ! of the Milford high school, and it ; is no longer a mystery as to how1 "Mac" comes by sir many admira-: ble and likable qualities, the fa- j ther having made innumerable; friends during the short time he 1 has been in Milford. j Mrs. Lula Peterson, who leaves ; soon to make her home in Port-1 land, Oregon, and Mrs. Itha Kin-' ney of California, were the guests of honor at a party given by Mrs. Hue Nielsen Thursday afternoon of j last week. Bridge was played and prizes were given to Mrs. Florin Bingham for high points and Mrs. j J. R. Murdock jr. for high honors, j while Mrs. Dick Johnston received the consolation prize.
