Show Grade School Notes FIRST GRADE We wrote this jx-em about a fa rmer: L'p in the morning as soon as it's light, The farmer works until it comes night. He plows the land and plants the seeds, He waters the corn and hoes '.he weed. First Grade. We plan;.ed gardens. Every boy and girl planted seeds. Some ; piarOd wheat. Some planted : vegetables. Some planted flowers, j We watered 'cur gardens. Niow ; we are waiting for them to grow. I iXils Johnson. i FIRST and SECOND GRADES Today is ;he first of April. It is April Hoi's day. We like to fool ipeople on April Fool for it is fun. We can change the sugar and salt. 'Margery. Easter will soon be here. We have soma dafiftodils. They are very pretty. They are yellow. We like them. Duveen. SECOND GRADE Charlotte and Delmon are making mak-ing big posters. They arte tfkrf our to i id unit. They are kalsomin-ing kalsomin-ing them. They are g'ood drawers. Barbara Stoker. Today is April Fool. We fool people on April Fool. We like April Fool clay. We will have a let of fun. Helen. We are making a study of birds. Charlotte is making a frieze. It is very nice. She has all kinds -of birds. Don Sehow. We are frcing to study aibout birds. There will be friezes and big pictures. We wrote poems, too. We wrote stories and lots cf other things. SIXTH GRADE The Turtle The turtle lays ; eggs, some times as many as a thousand. The mother turtle ekes not care in the least about her young. She leaves the eggs for the sun to hatch. As soon as the young are hatched they make a bee line for water. If you cut a turtle's head off, for about three days after his jaws would snap and his liejg-s would move if touched. One turtle had its brains taken out and it livd for about six months afterwards. Another turtle lived for a hundred years. Jessie McCulley. D. C. Houston's Lecture D. C. Houston was over at the high school Wednesday. He came from the office of the state board of health to talk a'bout diseases and how to prevent us from getting get-ting them. One of them was the buibonic plague scattered by little animals such as the prarie dog, rats and raccoons. He told about a doctor saving a little girl by injecting in-jecting a medicine into her arm. He said that one fourth of the people of Europe died in 1665 of diseases. Robert Canavan. Lady of the Lake Yesterday the fifth grade and the sixth grade went over to the ' high school. We saw the picture ' of "The Lady of the Lake". It was a very good picture and 1: think the girls and 'boys liked it. IMaxine Carter. |
