Show CHRISTMSCIENCE j "Are Sin, Disease and Death j Real?" is the subject of the les-; son-sermon in First Church of Christ, . Scientist, in Milford on Sunday, April 14. 1 The Golden text is: "Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save! me, and I shall be saved: for thou! art my proise" (Jeremiah 17:14). Included in the Scriptural selections selec-tions in the lesson-sermon is the j following: "I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; j and thou forgavest the iniquity of I my sin (Psalms 32:5). Used as correlatives are the following fol-lowing passages from the Christian Chris-tian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Scrip-tures" by, Mary Baker Eddy: "To put down the claim of sin, you must detect it, remove the mask, point out the illusion, and thus get the victory over sin and so prove its unreality (p. 447). God, Spirit, alone created all, and called it good. Therefore evil, being contrary con-trary to good, is unreal, and cannot can-not be the product of God. A sinner sin-ner can receive no encouragement from the fact that Science demonstrated demon-strated the unreality of evil, for the sinner would make a reality of sin would make that real which is unreal, and thus heap up 'wrath against the day of wrath.' Only those who repent of sin and forsake the unreal, can fully understand the unreality of evil" (p. 339). |
