Show Grow Resistant Varieties Wilt disease In sweet corn has been reported from many sections of the corn belt this year. The only known control for the disease is to plant resistant re-sistant varieties. It Is believed that the disease is carried on the seed and spread in the field by the larvae stage of the spotted cucumber beetle. When the disease strikes the field, the corn leaves wilt and die, and frequently in I rainy weather the roots and base of the stalk will rot off. New varieties of corn are being developed by the United States Department of Agriculture. Agricul-ture. rrairie Farmer. |
