Show Farmers Back Dairy Project 100 Per Cent New Era Opening in Development ol Milford Valley Heralding the coming of a creamery cream-ery and the dairy industry as the beginning be-ginning of an epoch of growth and development de-velopment of the Milford valley, the residents of this section were very much elated to learn that a part of the creamery equipment has already arrived in Milford and the balance is now in transit. Word has also been received that the first shipment consisting con-sisting of two carloads of high class dairy cows will arrive this week. This shipment of stock has been delayed de-layed until a thorough examination of the present herds could be made by a veterinarian to determine that there is no contagious diseases or affected stock in the valley. With a large number of valuable, tested animals coming into the valley, every precaution precau-tion will be taken to keep the herds clean and free from disease. Milford valley has always been exceptionally ex-ceptionally free from contagious dis-! eases, its natural climatic conditions and pure water, nutritious feed hav-, ing a tendency to make it an ideal lo-, cation for the dairy business. Dairy-' ing on a small scale in the past has been both successful and remunera- j tive, and now though the efforts of the Lions club which have succeeded in interesting California dairymen in' this section to the extent that notnly ! a creamery is assured, but also the-establishment the-establishment of a calf and cow farm, ' to be located here, we see an era of development of which this fertile valley val-ley has long awaited. j The California Dairy Stock Co., of Los Angeles, from which the dairy cows are being purchased by the local farmer, will also become identified with the up-building of this comnrun-1 ity, having arranged for the installa-j tion of one of the most modern, and model dairy farms in the state, on the R. D. Clarke land adjoining Milford ' on the east. This company will not on- j ly engage in the dairy and calf rais-: ing business, but will be in a position to assist the farmers, with their wide j experience, in getting started along ( the right lines, and assist them withj their problems. The company will maintain headquarters on their ranch j for selling of the highest class dairy j stock, not only locally, but all over the state. - The company is headed by Wm. Cross, one of the best known dairy stockmen on the Pacific coast, while W. A. Barr, who is general manager, is also most favorably known in the livestock circles of California. Cal-ifornia. W. H. Zirbei, who visited Milford recently, and who is associated with the creamery company which is installing in-stalling the Milford creamery, holds the distinction of being one of the first to demonstrate the gre-at advantage advant-age of the T. B. test. Mr. Zirbel was one of the original advocates of this scientific development back in Wisconsin Wis-consin many years ago. The new creamery, which will be "known as the Milford Creamery, will be under the direct supervision of R. H. Nelson, who is expected to arrive in Milford today from Los Angeles. Mr. Nelson, we are told, is one of the most efficient dairy experts in the west, and his personal help to the farmers of Milford valley will be a great asset to the farmers engaging in the dairy business, as well as a valuable acquisition to the business circles of Milford. A slogan recently adopted by the Milford Lions club, and purloined by the Milford News, is "Five thousand people, five thousand cows in Milford I valley in five years." This is no im-j im-j possible feat to accomplish when one I considers the many advantages offer-J offer-J ed in the Milford valley for the de-i de-i velopment of the dairy industry. Situated Sit-uated on a direct line in close proximity prox-imity to the coast markets, with thousands of acres of fertile land that ! produces record crops of the highest j quality alfalfa and other feeds, which ! may be obtained at reasonable prices, our climate of sunshine, and pure water all these and many other advantages, ad-vantages, -is already attracting California Calif-ornia capital which will in a few : years, enable this section to take its place among the most prosperous ones of the west. |
