Show DEKN AND THE DAM Governor George II. Dem expressed the attitude of not a few of his con.sitiucnts when he urged a "waiting" policy on the part of the state toward the Bolder Dam controversy con-troversy in his message to the present legislature. There are many angles to the situation, but 03 the Timea stated editorially last week, Utah lias little to gain m tin; construction of the dam. Certainly we have nothing to lo:;e in waiting until our neighboring slate, Arizona, shows her hand. If she ratifies the seven-state pact, then Utah doesn't, then there will b ample time for Utah to take action, ac-tion, and in so doing she may control the "whip-hand," thus insuring the fullest protection of her rights. i Governor Dern, who has probably made a more thor- ougli .study of the situation than has most any other Utahn, says that Utah's rights are beter protected under the seven- state pad- If that i.s the case, then it would STm only tho 1 pail olwisdom for our legislature to act not too hastily. W. Warner Mitchell, in The Purowan Times. |
