Show VJ THAT YOUNGER GENERATION Every now and then, the attention of the News is called call-ed to articles in other papers decrying that some people feel it their duty to state that the younger generation is going to the bow-wows. Naturally, the majority of people deeply resent a constant 'yapping' about the younger generation. gen-eration. There always has been a 'younger generation,' and its ideas being more modern by a few years, its social trend has always been looked upon suspiciously. And people are getting tired of it. However, the News does feel that it is a little uncharitable uncharit-able to critics, Vv'hen a writer is squelched by having remarks hurled his way such as: "People who complain of drinking and social degeneration among the young people, are usually the ones who are hunting for just such condtions." N Were this attitude taken toward all social reforms, there would have been negligible results for the betterment of our younger citizens in the years past. No one needs to proclaim himself a Messiah, yet if one's course of work, his source of information, his environment, and his sole means of observation lead him to believe that drinking and dissipation is on the increase among the younger people, he should not have his own character maligned for so stat ing. |
