Back Dack of this bare statement lies a genuine story of vital Interest not only to the citizens who dwell within the boundaries of at the new county but to every citizen of Utah who desires desires de do- sires that in n so far as is within thIS the power of the state equal opportunities ties shall be afforded every citizen In the extreme northeastern corner corner corn corn- er er r of Utah there is s a great tract ot or land laud varying in character from fertile fertile fer fer- tile valleys valles to mountain ranges capped with eternal snows This tract is bounded on the north by by- Wyoming on the east by Colorado on the south by the watershed of the tho the Uintah mountains and on the west by bT Summit county j a J a WC More than a quarter of a century ago settlers came into this remote section of Utah settlements were founded ranches secured and stoc stocks z ed and within a few years was begun begun begun be be- gun the development of ot irrigation projects to obtain water for some of or orthe the large area of at arable land V E Progress and prosperity prosper attended the efforts of tho the pioneers in this section of ot the state but there was vas one serious stood seventy-four seventy for none against the tho vote In n the remaining portion o of tho the county was votes for tor votes against showing ing a majority for the creation creaton of ot the new
