Show NEWS OF OUR NEIGHBORS Gathered by the Editor in His Weekly Rounds HINCKLEY. Chas. Hurke and Joseph W. Ulake have been busy the past week or two getting signatures to a petition to the county commissioners fur a new county coun-ty road. It Is to extend straight north of Hinckley for a distance of thirteen tulles, making the timber and wood east of the hot springs easily accessible acces-sible to the people of the Hinckley and the west side. It Is also asked that a road be extended front this new road along the telephone line to the Helta bridge. This will be a short cut. to Hinckley for tho people of West Helta. A right of way has been promised by the farmers and the Helta company for.sifflclenti land for the proposed road. Two small bridges will be needed need-ed on the north road and one on the east. The married people of Hinckley can have as good a time as the young lolks ns was proved by the party held at the school house Thanksgiving night. Nearly 100 people were present pres-ent and nn Interesting program of songs, recitations and speeches was rendered. Old time dances were Indulged In-dulged In and refreshments were served. Everyone reports having had the time of their lives. Dr. Emery of the Slate Health Hoard was In town recently Investigating the typhoid cases. He decided that the cases originated from a well Into which the drainage Trom a corral had access. He also thought tho open outhouses out-houses where flies had ready access had much to do with the sperad of this disease, as flies are the worst carriers car-riers of contagious diseases. Ho r onitnended that the open outhouses be replaced with sanitary closets. The town board will take up the matter at their next meeting imd will probably put a physician on the town board of health and have the sanitary conditions condi-tions of the town. There was a big crowd at I'ratt Bros, store last Saturday night to cc who would, be the lucky winner of the prUe offered by these enterprises merchants. Iewla. the harness maker, finds that Hinckley agrees with hint both physically and financially. He feels better than he has for years and Is kept busy all the lime. He has Just got in a new stock of saddles and some mote harness. |
