Its It's Unfortunate r rAn An unfortunate incident arose this week to deprive a manof man manof of the editorship two weeks after the publications council had formally appointed him At the time he was to all intents and purposes perfectly eligible and was duly appointed to the position Previous to the meeting of the council there had been some question as to his eligibility but the faculty member in charge of checking it gave his official sanction and everything everything every every- thing appeared settled Quite by accident the student body president found a slight technicality and after calling it to President Thomas' Thomas attention on and certain wire pulling succeeded in having the appointee declared ineligible after he had once been cleared of the difficulty If all this happened prior t the appointment nothing would have been said but after an investigation of the facts it a appears appears ap ap- pears to be an out and out case of the student body president using his position to tb get a fraternity brother into a position by hook or crook after he had failed to gain it on his merits We Ve re have no personal axe to grind to in the matter at all but when a man receives such a raw deal as Monte fonte Carpenter did those responsible for it are deserving of a much more viol violent nt verbal condemnation than this
