Show L D S Conference Opens in Salt Lake Oct. 5, 6, 7 First General Conference For Public Since 1941 The first general conference to be held since October, 19J1, in the L. D. S. church, will open in Salt Lake City Friday, October 5 for 3 days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Meetings are being held Wednesday Wednes-day lor Oificers of the general, the stake and mission boards, and on Thursday the Relief Society will hold their sessions, open to the public. At the opening session on Friday George Albert Smith will be sustained sust-ained as church president, suceeed-Heber suceeed-Heber J. Grant, whose death occurred oc-curred last May. Among those attending from Des-eret Des-eret stake will be members of the stake presidency and ward bishoprics. bishop-rics. There will be a broadcast Sunday Sun-day morning from the Tabernacle, from 8 to 8:30 a.m., at which time Spencer W. Kimball, member of the council of twelve apostles will give an address, entitled, "Foundations "Founda-tions of Peace." |
