Show A Democrat Says The enemies, or I might more respectfully and properly say, the adversaries of Roosevlt, call him a radical. He is not a radical, but a conservative and careful reformer. The word "radical" first came into general use about the time Abraham Abra-ham Lincoln became a candidate for president as a term of contempt con-tempt and derision of Lincoln and the militant group of abolishion-itst abolishion-itst in the North, who established the Grand Old Party (G O P) and freed the black slaves in the South and saved the Union after four years of bitter and bloody waifare. Then they put on the cloak of conservatism, con-servatism, but kept alive that wicked term of radicalism as used by the Southern slave owners with which to denounce and deride othesr who sought reform. The bitterest foes of Roosevlt are the radicals, who hovered at his elbows after he was elected president to tell him just what he had to do to save the country and restore prosperity. Among these radicals were Professor Moley, head-of the Brain Trust; "Hughey" Long, whose slogan was "Share the Wealth"; General Hugh S. Johnson, who wanted the American Ameri-can people to "Crack down" on Henry Ford; Father Coughlin, the radio priest with his divine revelation revel-ation as to what the president must do to be saved; Dr. Francis E. Townsend, with his old age pension pen-sion plan which alone would meet every need of the people; Jonh L. Lewis, who knew just what the president would have to do in order ord-er to be elected for a third term, and a bunch of dreamers all of whom are after his scalp, not for the purpose of better government, but for revenge against the president presi-dent who wouldn't do what theiy told him he had to do to get their valuable support. That crew and their henchmen are more anxious to see Roosevelt defeated than are the regular dyed- in- the- wool Republicans. And, of course, Hitler and the Hitlerites Hit-lerites are praying for his defeat as the only hope they have for a negotiated peace under which their sins might be forgiven. So I hope to see Roosevelt re-elected and if he is I believe Nazi war mongers will quit the fight without unnecessary unnec-essary delay: C. D. McNeely. Mrs. Oak Dutson entertained on Sunday evening in honor of her husband's birthday. Lunch was served to the following guests: M-S Glen Hortin, M-S Eldro Jef-fery, Jef-fery, M-S Wallace Jeffery, M-S Arthur Ar-thur Jensen, M-S Orvil Jeffery and M-S Leigh Maxfield. |
