Show O. P. A. Meots With Seed Cooperatives WpdnosfUi y morning Attorney A. M. Kerro from the Salt Lake office of price administration, met in IV1- ta willi the officers of the oe-opor-atives operating in Oasis, the Rop- I pan! Seed Plant and the Moody Brothers plant. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the rights and limitations of seed co-operatives in marketing seed under ORA regulations. It was pointed out by the attorney that if the co-ops function only as processors, they may be can continue as processors But. to function as wholesalers and retailers as well as processors .vould disrupt the program of distribution dis-tribution so that a snort crop of alfalfa seed would not be as widely wide-ly distributed as if it had been through the re.gular channels of trade. This would force a decision by the OPA as to t lie legality of the present operations by co-onor-atives operating in this locality. The result could very easily be detrimental and t h e producer would be forced to sell at 1 he growers ceiling. The officers present pres-ent decided it best to comply with Attorney Ferro's suggestion and sell through the regular channels at processor's ceiling. Another question of discussion centered around the expense involved invol-ved through co-operative marketing. market-ing. The Attorney pointed out there could be no privileges granted grant-ed to one plant to the disadvantage disadvan-tage of another. A uniform program pro-gram of operation was finally a-greed a-greed upon. |
