The returned service men pri'seiiled a splendid program with (Irani Harris as master ol ceremonies. Following the program a short service was presented for the unveiling ol the monument which has been erected ill honor 1 of our service men of World Wars. A sketch of the lives of our two war heroes, who gave their lives for their counlry, Hugh Rawlin Roper and l'hil Finlinson, was giv-1 giv-1 en by Alice 1. Anderson. An address ad-dress was given by Klvon Anderson. Ander-son. The monument was unveiled by Mrs. Ruby Dale of Indiana, who lost her husband in Iwo .lima and Donna Lee Mnlhcws. neice of Hugh Rawlin Roper. Prayer was offered by Lenox Finlinson. The afternoon was spenl in swimming and sports, nnd a ball game between the service men and the town boys at which Ihe town boys were the winners. Out of town people who visiled relatives for the Fourth were; Mrs. Eulu Olson and small daughter, Annetle, of I!righani Cily, Mr. and Mrs. Oiian Jacohson anil family, and Mr. and Mrs. Cordon Hawes of Ogden, Mrs. Lillian Larson nnd her family of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Lenox Finlinson and Mr. nnd Mrs. Evnn Christ ensen, of Provo, nnd Mr. nnd Mrs. Joseph Wells and children, of Clearfield. Mrs. Margaret W. Roper, who Is attending summer school at the B. Y. U. wns home for the Fourth. J. Lee Anderson and son. otto, of Spanish Fork, were Oak Cily visitors last week. Miss Jerry Hone, of Spanish Fork, fiance of Basil Talbot was guest at his home last week. s Mrs. Don T. Bishop is visiling at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mnry Anderson. Mr. nnd Mrs. Addie Moulton, of Heber City, visited Sundny with Mrs. Moulton's mother, Mrs. Florence Flor-ence Jones. Evan Swcnsen has gone to Hinckley Hin-ckley to visit relatives. Mrs. Mnrgarct Willis, of Caliente, Nevada, is visiting here with relatives. rela-tives. Mr. nnd Mrs. Melvin Roper and family, nnd Lorenzo Lovell hnve gone to Oakley, Idaho, to visit with Mr. Lovell's son. Edward. Friday, July 5, Basil Talbot and Jerry Hone and Arthur Olson went to Spanish Fork. They met Miss Ella May Matts, of Kansas City, who came home with them to visit a few dnys as a guest of Arthur Olson. Grant and Keith Harris. Gayle and Glen Neilson and Ted Harris Jr.. of Delta, spent the week end fishing at Boulder Mountain. Doyle Anderson spent several days last week in Salt Lake and Provo. The Geneology Committee was in charge of the program at meeting meet-ing Sunday night. Guest speakers were; Hugh Hilton and Leonard Palmer, from Hinckley, of the stake geneology committee. Ellis Anderson Ander-son also made a few remarks. The "Busy Bee" 4-H club met Friday, at the home of Margaret Ann Sheriff. A report on "health" was given by Margaret Ann, and the girls learned to cook breakfast break-fast food under the direction of' their leader, Merlene Lovell. Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Roberts of Spring Valley. Nevada, came to Delta Tuesday, accompanied by Mrs. Sepha Robison. |
