Show Awarded Citations and Congratulatory Message First Lt. Richard N. Peterson, U. S. Marine Corps Reserve, was a-warded a-warded the following citations, received re-ceived with a congratulatory message mes-sage from Commander U. S. Marine Ma-rine Corps, Colonel J. L. Parsons: The Distinguished Flying Cross with a gold star, the Air Medal with five. Gold Stars. Colonel Parsons stated that the i citations were awarded for ex-troadinary ex-troadinary achievement while participating par-ticipating in aerial flight in connection con-nection .with military operations against the enemy in the Bismarch Archipelago and the Philippines A-rea, A-rea, in completion of forty-one missions which were flown in a combat area where enemy antiaircraft antiair-craft fire or enemy air borne opposition oppo-sition was encountered, Lt. Peterson was a first Pilot on a Marine Mitchell Bomber while over seas. Copt, and Mrs. Ray Davis and their small daughter, Sandra Lee, left Delta Monday and took the plane from Salt Lake City Monday 1 night to go to Florida, to visit Capt. Davis" family. Mrs. Davis' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Gardner, Gar-dner, accompanied them to Salt Lake City. . t Alden Nielson, son of John H. Nielson, of Oak City, is home after receiving his honorable discharge from the navy. T. Sgt. Gilbert E. Gooch, and his wife, Mrs. Roann Gooch, and their i little daughter, Nadine, visited in Delta this week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Sampson. T. Sgt. Gooch is being stationed at . Pocatello, and will be joined there later by his family. Private Sherman M. Little, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fera Little, Delta, has arrived at Landsberg, Germany, where he is now serving with the European Aviation Engineer command. com-mand. Assigned to the 862nd Engineers Aviation Battalion Little has joined join-ed the vast program of constructing construct-ing and maintaining airfields and other facilities for' the Occupational Occupation-al Air Force and other air force installations in Europe which is being be-ing carried forward by the European Euro-pean Aviation Engineer command. Private Little was formerly stationed sta-tioned at Kessler Field, Mississippi. |
