Show Deer Season Filled With Good Luck, Tall Tales, Sunburn and Buck Fatigue It would take far ?ess space to enumerate those who did NOT get their deer this season than to attempt at-tempt to list those who did. It has been a big year, with cars returning return-ing from the deer camps well laden with bucks since Saturday afternoon after-noon of the opening day. Evan Johnson is just about swamped, at the Quality Market, preparing- the deer for the freezing freez-ing lockers, and more coming in daily. Wednesday morning Heber Tippetts brought in a big buck, from the 1000 Lake mountains, 6 points, and 154 pounds, and Evan reported he had already handled twenty bigger than that. Doyle Pace had a big fellow in there, 5 points, and 185 pounds, and hanging nearby was the big one Less Price brought in, and also Don D. Anderson. Win Walker got a 5-point buck, weighing 185 pounds, with the feet off and the liver out. Win took the liver out, wrapped it in his red shirt, and put it in a car, and hasn't has-n't seen the car, liver or shirt since. Lionel Petty brought in the biggest big-gest so far, close to 250 pounds, 7 points on one side and 6 on the other. In the camp he was at out north it was the biggest deer a-mong a-mong the 50 hunters around there. Two more big one were brought in, by Howard Hardy and Fred Gavin, Ga-vin, each way over 200 pounds. Fred thought his weighed 500 pounds before he got it carried out, and figured it dressed 225 to 230 pounds. That buck had 5 points on one side, and 6 on the other, and Fred Says it is the best venison ven-ison he has ever eaten. Cluff Talbot shot 1 shot while he was out, and knocked over two bucks, 1 4-point and 1 3-point, one shot through the neck and the other shot in the shoulder. |
