Show Chatter er Box x Dear Suzy Well Vell here it is the week of Thanksgiving and I suppose that a number of us wonder just what we have to be thankful for Our boys are away to war and we dont don't know when If ever they will re re- re turn Things just seem gone to pot with little in store in the fu fu- fu- fu ture But personally I INcan Ican can find lots to be thankful for and among them are 1 We have plenty of coal 2 We have meat stamps to throw to the pups 3 Good weather that makes you feel glad to be alive 4 lbs Ibs of dried beans in the cellar 5 The United War Fund drive has picked up and the boss isn't so grouchy 6 I am not a farmer so dont don't have to figure up income tax right now 7 I am nota not a farmer so dont don't have any pigs or or cattle Weaner pigs were offered I this week 19 of them for 20 with no takers How would you like a weaner pig for Christmas 8 My skirts are clean with the OPA I hope 9 I haven't used my 18 or No 1 shoe stamp yet et 10 The car wont won't start so I dont don't need gas anyway 11 Money In the bank and bonds In the deposit box so what more do you want in life U I could name a lot more things to be thankful for but the boss pays me so much a word for this I tripe I write and he might get up upon upon I Ion on his ear if I just kept running on and on But to get back to Thanksgiving I heard a darned good recipe for fora a Thanksgiving dinner First of all you take a member of the armed forces and lightly garnish with chicken noodle soup stuff well with scalloped oysters turkey dressing celery olives hot biscuits sweet potatoes mashed potatoes giblet gravy pickles and plenty of butter Then smother well with mince pie squash pie plum pudding pudding pudding pud pud- ding and fruit cake Drench this all well with water milk and cof cof- fee Lead the member off to some quiet spot and roll gently on a bed and then leave until he can get up by himself which may take days It sounds good and it can be tried any place where you can gather up upa a member of the armed forces Mr and Mrs Ed have returned here where Ed hopes to get back his usual good health Do you remember when he ran the here in Delta and sold mens men's clothing It was nothing for him to knock the local boys over for a silk shirt that set the buyer back 20 Of course I am not telling telling telling tell tell- ing how old you are and if you cant can't remember back that far we will skip the whole thing I was quite disappointed when I opened your last letter and didn't find a check for Cor the War Var Fund drive Then I read it and could have broken right out in tears about all your hard luck only that my better judgment wouldn't let me You remember all about the withholding tax C war bonds and other deductions you griped about being taken out of your check so that you didn't have enough left to make a donation Then the high cost of living was giving you a terrific beating Well I felt bad for awhile and then I remembered that they are paying you double what you should get in the tho first place Then in the second place you always did like to tp squeeze a II nickel until the face on it cried real tears So In reading between lines and knowing you like I do I can see that the big city life lite and big money haven't changed you yet Love Toots h |
