Show - Oak City Mae H. Shipley The water from the canyons is really doing much damage to farm land and roads. It is taking the efforts of most iall the men to keep any control of the muddy water rampaging in all the ditches. Culverts are being washed out. Sunday the state road crew finished fin-ished putting the large culvert out of the creek just north of town, leaving that road closed. A temporary tem-porary bridge is made so afmilies can get to fields and eatter. The cooler weather Monday night and Tuesday may help. The water from Oak Creek canyon is irrigating the fields at McCornick. Mr. and Mrs. Grayson Roper have moved to Oak City for the summer sum-mer farm work. They have been living at Delta. Mrs. Isobel Williams and children child-ren were Oak City visitors Saturday Satur-day and Sunday. Ramona Day and La aMe Finlinson came from Cedar City with her. Cpl. Reece Finlinson is home on a ten day furlough. He is leaving Fort Riley and will be placed with those going to the far east for service. ser-vice. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Whatcott and son returned to Vernal Sunday after af-ter being in Oak City to attend her brother's, Julian Finlinson, funeral services. Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Roper visited visit-ed their father, Wm. Alldredge and also Mrs .Wanda Roper visited with them. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Talbot are reporting the arrival of another grandson born to Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Talbot at Cedar City hospital hospit-al April 22. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Anderson and children were Oak City visitors last week. Mrs. Twiss Nielson and her son, Gordon was in Salt Lake Wednesday Wednes-day to see her son, De Lynn, who left Thursday morning for his mis- sion field. Mrs. Kathleen Anderton and children chil-dren from Richfield visited in Oak City especially with her father, Lorenzo Lovell. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Roper are in Salt Lake. Mrs. Roper is there for special medical care. A lovely trousseau tea was given at the home of Mrs. Myrtle Lovell for her daughter, Alton. She will be married Wednesday at the Salt Lake temple. Many of the Oak City people were in Delta for the conference Sunday. |
