Show 1 MILLARS COUNTY CHRONICLE Delta, Utah, Thurs., June 19, 19521 Mrs. Eleanor C. Murray, of Evan-sto- 111., and daughter Maydawn, arrived in Delta Sunday for a visit with Mrs. Murray's brother, W. E. Cook, and family. Mrs. Murray was in Delta years ago for a short visit when he brother ran the former Brookmont farm. They trust all the Roper familes will be there to make this one of the most wonderful reunion clays they ever attempted to have together. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Underbill are making a visit in Salt Lake City with their daughter, Mrs. Gail and family. Fidelity Club Is liiicrtniiied Mrs. Clara Kiltpack was hostess to the Fidelity Club at her home on June 6. Dinner was served and catered by the City cafe. Mrs. Adrian Hansen was a guest that evening, and members pre-sent were Artie Henderson, Ava Starley, Ada Johnson, Ella Black, Inez Moody, Hannah Larson, Don-n- a Sorenson, Luella Nickle, Maline Gardner and Romania Bird. Mrs. Hansen gave the lesson, which was based on the life and times of Queen Elizabeth and a review of her family line. South Tract Garden Clult On Tuesday afternoon, June 10, members of the South Tract Gar-den Club met at the rose garden in Delta. They made a garden tour from the rose garden to the gar-dens of Mrs. Ruby Bunker, Mrs. Delia Lisonbee, and M. Ward Moo-dy in Delta. At the Moody garden the lad-ies relaxed in the patio while Mrs. Harriet Taylor, committee for the tour, served a cool beverage. Mrs. Moody gave each of the ladies a bouquet of her lovely roses. They drove from there ot Suth-erland to visit the garden oi Mrs. Zola Bunker. After showing her garden of many beautiful 'flowers and shrubs, Mrs. Bunker gave all the ladies a start of several flow-ers. The club enjoyed the privilege of visiting all these gardens. It helped them realize what beautiful yards around homes are possible here in the desert. Itichficld Plans Seml-of- f I'arly Mrs. Rula J. Fullenbach, chair-man, Military Manpower commit-tee, Reed Blomquist, commander elect, Jensen-Colb- y Post 45, Amer-ican Legion, and Sgt. Stinson, ar-my and Air Force recruiter for southern Utah, have planned to give a big send-of- t party to all army and air force applicants who apply lor enlistment on or before June 23. This will be held at the Amer-ican Legion club in Richfield the night of June 25, with lots to eat and entertainment.. Dick Isbell will give .a talk on the new GI Bill of Rights for all who were in the service on or af-ter June 27, 1950. Reed Blomquist will give a talk about what the American Legion stands for, and what to expect in the service. Les Anderson, AL. district com-mander, will install the newly el-ected officers of Jensen-Colb- y Post, who are Reed Blomquist, comman-der, Sgt. Stinson, first vice, Dick Isbell, second vice, Cliff Shelby, adjutant, Harold Aldroyd, chaplain and Bill Baker, sergeant at arms. 1st Lt. Harrison, public inform-ation officers, Fort Douglas, will give the oath of enlistment to the army and air force applicants who have been accepted for enlistment. All this is open to the public, especially veterans who are not members of the American Legion. A reminder to those who have had their physicals - - June 30 is the last day you can volunteer for enlistment. June 23 is the last day for Sgt. Stinson. Grandparents are Mr 7, Frank Roberts, of Delta ' Mrs. Sherman Perkins was in Logan Friday night for the in-auguration and formal party at Girls 'State, where her daughter, Connie Perkins, was a delegate, with LaRaine Petersen, Iris Hol-ma- n and Verlene Stevens. Gov. and Mrs. J. Bracken Lee attended the event, and were speakers. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Forand, from San Francisco, and a young friend, Ramona Stumpt, arrived in Delta Monday for a visit of two weeks with Mrs. Forand's mother, Mrs. Nell Watson. Mrs. Forand's sister, Mrs. Alta Jamison, Salt Lake City, is arriving Thursday for a week end visit. Is Hostess To Country Club Mrs. June Reid was hostess to the Country Club at their meeting Monday night. Dinner was served at the City Cafe, and cards played laiter at the Reid home. Mrs. Beu-la- h Bassett held high score, and Mrs. Dorothy Steele held second high. The travelling prize went to Mrs. Fern Mortensen and olw score award to Mrs. Elinor Roberts. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Taylor, of Borden, are in Salt Lake City with their small son, Tommy, who is being treated at the Holy Cross hospital. A3c Richard J. Carter is writing home from Wethersfield, England, at present, where he is with a Fighter Bomber Squadron. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Holman, from Billings, Mont., are visiting in Del-ta with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Holman and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Roberts. Making the trip here with them is Diane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Verl Johnson, of Billings, visiting Johnson and War-nic- k relatives. They will return to Montana at the end of the week. A2c Alton Cahoon is spending a two-wee- k furlough in Delta with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clayson Cahoon. He has been at Biggs AFB, and at the end of his fur- - lough will go to Wichita Falls' Texas to Sheppard AFB. Mr. and Mrs. Tony Stapley and small daughter spent the week end in Delta with their mother, Mrs. Blythe Taggart. The Delta Harmonettes, Cherie Hannifin, Lila Mae Sampson and Bonnie Black, are spending the summer at Bryce Lodge in Bryce Canyon, wheer they are employed by the Utah parks system. The girls will take part in the even-ing programs that are customary at the Lodge. The Lucky Luncheons met at the home of Mrs. Alma Petersen Thurs day, June 12. The lesson was on salads. They fixed four different kinds of salads. Their next meet-ing will be on Thursday, June 19. |
