' 7 Pocket Gopher Is A Wsistrel The common pocket gopher that is so well-know- n to the irrigated farmer is one of our ever present problems here in Millard county. In addition to being a general nuisance in various ways; such as digging in gardens, lawns, fields, and destroying crops, the gopher wastes more irrigation water than perhaps any other single source of waste of this precious commo-dity. This time of the year is the best time to introduce control measures. Poison bait placed in the underground runways of the gopher is probably the best meth-od of control. Strychnine is the poison that is used. It is used on small pieces of fresh carrot. Small packages or cartons of the bait material can be obtained at the county agent's office at a very nominal cot. You are urged to start this con-trol program at your earliest pos-sible convenience! Dr. and Mrs. Sevy Shepherd ol Camas, Wash., and their mother Mrs. V. S.
