Erickson, who is in Korea, sends his love and apprec-iation to his many friends here, who have been so thoughtful and kind to him while he has been in the service of his country since ov-er a year ago. Their letters, cards and packages have been greatly appreciated, and he writes that he is grateful to them. He says "I wish you all the love of a merry Christmas and the happiest of New Years". Wedding Day Is Announced Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Anderson of Oak City announce the ap-proaching marriage of their daugh ter, Barbara, to Pvt. Ladd J. Black, son of Mr. and Mrs. June W. Black of Delta. The ceremony will be solemni2-e- d in the Manti LDS temple on Thursday, Dec. 27. A reception to honor the young couple will be held in the Oakj City recreation hall Friday evening! Dec. 28. A cordial invitation is ex-- 1 tended to everyone ot attend. Pvt. Black, who has been sta-tioned at Camp Roberts, Cal., for several months, is arriving home Sunday on a ten-da- y furlough. Both are graduates of Delta high school. The bride-to-fo- e was grad-uated from Dixie college and later served as an LDS missionary in California. Schlappi, of Missoula, Mont., and son, Keith, visited in Delta last week with their father, H. J. Schlappi, and members of the family. They left Friday for Mo.ntana.They had been to Los Angeles where they met Keith when he returned from an IDS mission in Hawaii. He was just entering the mission field there when his cousin, Glen Gard-ner, was completing his mission and preparing for the trip home. fl. II. S. News LYLA RAE TALBOT ICE SKATING PARTY Last Saturday the Juniors spon-sored an ice skating party and in-vited the whole school. The party was held down at Swan Lake. The Juniors sold chilli, hot dogs, and hot chocolate and came clear with a profit of $5.10. Everyone enjoyed the party and agreed they had a fun time even though some of them did not find the way out to the lake very eas-ily and a lot of them came home with a few bruises, penniless, and very cold. MUSIC TEACHER ARRIVES At last our music teacher has ar-rived. His name is Donald G. Stock man from Provo, Utah, and a grad uate of the BYU. We are very glad to have him here and hope he will enjoy our school. SCHOOL PLAY The Hinckley high school play "Seventeenth Summer" was pre-sented to the public Friday, Dec. 14, in the Hinckley high school aud itorium. The cast feels that they really did a swell job and had a lot of fun preparing the play. After the performance Dale Car-lin-representing the cast, pre-sented Mrs. Spendlove with a doz-en red roses and Shirley Davis, presented, student director, Erma Roundy with a scarf and necklace. The cast for the play included: S'hirley Davis, Lyla Rae Talbot, Verlene Stevens, Dorothy Morris, Corma Wright, Sheldon Christensen Doug Allred, Kathryn Ekins, Irene Lewis, and Edward Crafts, Lowry Bishop and Dale Carling. CLASS NEWS The senior class of 53 took a little time out of class to decide on their class rings. They finally decided on a very beautiful ring and are sending in the order right away. The class of 52 have selected their announcement cards. SCHOOL PAPER The journalism class has been working very hard this week 'on the Christmas edition of the paper. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PAPER The Hinckley Elementary is pre-senting an opera, "The Toymak-er- ", Thursday night at the Hinck-ley high school. Mrs. Ruth Talbot will be the accompanist. The chil-dren will be dressed in different costumes designed by Mrs. Web-ber. There are 152 students particip-ating in the opera. Everyone is in-vited to attend and to bring all your friends. Miss Diane Oversan has been home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Overson the past week. She returned to Stockton Tuesday.
