Show Parley Called Soon to Discuss U. S. Highway 6 The following letter has been received re-ceived by Mayor Golden H. Black. He and representatievs from Austin, Au-stin, F and Tonopah, Nevada, signed esolution requesting the early coi.. 'letion of U. S. Highway No. 5, and forwarded it to Gov. J. Bracken Lee recently. The resolution resolu-tion went to the governor, the Utah road commission, the federal bureau of roads, and the Nevada and Utah senators and representa tives in Congress. Dec. 29, 1949 Dear Mayor Black, I have received a resolution pertaining per-taining to U. S. Highway No. 6 which was signed by you, among others, and I wish to thank you for the interest you are taking in this matter. The Utah State Road Commission, Commis-sion, at the present time, is spend ing every available dollar for road construction throughout the state. How this money is spent is deter- T:ined by the overall program. U. S. Highway No. 6 has benefitted from this program in the past and will continue to do so in the future. fu-ture. Currently, the Road Commission is in the process of preparing a long-range highway construction program for the entire state. When i this program is ready for adoption sometime next month, a public hearing will be held to consider the matter. I am certain your views would be welcome at that time. Please.be assured that I appreciate appre-ciate the interest you have taken in U. S. Highway No. 6, and that I am just as anxious to see it com pleted as you are. . Respectfully yours, J. Bracken Lee, Governor To - further the completeion of Highway 6, an offer was made by Nevada firms and business men recently to the state of Utah of $250,000 without interest. This money would come from communities commun-ities on the highway in Nevada who are anxious to have the trans continental route finished. |
