| Show Utah Professor Students Study Cases of Felony A recent short survey of the disposition disposition disposition dis dis- dis- dis position of felony cases all nIl felonies prosecuted in Salt Lake City from July to December 1929 under the direction of Dr Adolph Ladru Jensen associate professor of law revealed that less than one- one fourth of the offenders prosecuted I for felony are punished for the crime of which they are charged Of those who were punished for forthe forthe forthe the offense with which they were charged 99 per cent pleaded guil guil- ty Thus jury convictions were se secured secured se- se se-I se cured in only per cent of the cases studied Only per cent of those I charged with the commission of a felony were ever sentenced to serve a jail or prison term of any kind and of these per cent pleaded guilty to lessor off offenses Each of the cases was followed followed fol fol- followed fol- fol lowed through in the court records from the filing of the criminal complaint to its final disposition The survey was made by Dorathy Merrill and Alan B.
