Show rfrfrMrrfrfrararararrfBraBHtf Chatter Boxj Dear Suzy, Killer Kirk, man about Delta and Texas, is going to have to do his drinking in a straight jacket from here on out or he is going to lose his friends, mainly through i the KO route. Killer, when fortified, fortifi-ed, has been grieving because Joe Louis retired before he got aV crack at him. And when Killer gets to grieving about his lost opportunity to flatten the mighty ; Joe, he takes out his revenge on ! whoever is handy. Sometimes with I disastrous effects upon the swat-i swat-i tee, but this last time it was with painful and lasting effects upon j Killer. A group of the local lads were waiting upon the oil prospectors who are here causing local land owners to loose sleep because they are resting over a vast body of oil, and had propositioned them employment. em-ployment. Things were not going rapidly enough to satitfy Killer, so he hauled off and aimed a blow at the biggest man in the crowd of oil prospectors, but missed and hit another guy smack in the eye. Things Th-ings moved rather rapidly from this point on as the prospectors happened to be from Texas too, and down there deep in the- heart of that area, the regular pasttime seems to be an exchange of blows wherein everyone takes part. Killer and the oil prospectors felt right at home when the melee began, but it didn't last too long. It seems that when they squared off, Killer had chosen the biggest man o fthe crowd and when the fracas was over and Killer was ready to call off all bets he felt down one side where he should have had ribs and found that there was nothing there but a little lace-work lace-work that were holding his insides inside instead of his ribs holding same. Needless to say, the local lads did not find employment with the oil prospectors, who drove off in their car leaving the field of battle bat-tle to the local lads, and also leaving them a long walk home. Four footsore and weary prospective prospect-ive employees hobbled into Delta, but the sorest and weariest was Killer, who had to have a lot of putty work done on his ribs where various ends failed to meet. Now when the lads get to looking look-ing upon anything stronger than water they plan on tieing Killer's hands behind his back and let him take his through a straw. They maintain it is much easier on eyes, and also upon Killer's dukes. When Rex Bunker, farmer, livestock live-stock man and erstwhile railroad employee in southern Idaho, left the ranks of the railroad he left a spot that will be long in being filled. Rex one of the most obliging ob-liging guys in the area worked for the railroad this past winter and their quarters were in a large work car and they were blessed with a rather elderly woman cook. She was a goodly soul, but suffered suffer-ed badly from arthritis and so when it came her bath time one night, the other men in the. car were astonished to hear her call to Rex and say, "Rex, will you please wash my back again, as you know I can't reach it?" Those who were present at the time won dered how long Rex had been washing the good woman's back for her to talk that way to him. They also report that Rex started blushing, first on the back of his neck, which crept up and over his bald head, meeting his other blush coming up his face. You can see now that because Rex left this job to return to his home he left a woman who will probably get no other back washer as good as Rex. And had Rex remained re-mained there just as a back washer, wash-er, he would have been doing a mighty service to the railroad just keeping the morale of the cook up and also by having the men served better food by same.I don't think a cook can do her best if she is worrying about a dirty back. I have heard of people buying matching accessories to a particular partic-ular dress or costume, but never before have I heard of a couple having cars for specific. Reva and Clark Bliss have done that very thing. If Clark is going out to irrigate ir-rigate he takes the old car and wears old clothes. When Reva is too. lazy to dress up to come to town she tootles in in the old car, and when she wants to put on the dog. she dresses up and comes in class in the new car. It is an excellent arrangement and works out well because it is only " on rare occasions that they are both dressed up and thus have |
