Show Delta Elementary School Draws Many To Open House The Christmas spirit reigned ' supreme at Delta elementary school Monday afternoon, with the rooms and halls gay and festive for the "open house." Parents and other interested guests calledbetween 4 and 6 p.m. They were registered at the door by teachers Mrs. June Reid and R. L. Heyborne, and signed sign-ed the guest book. Also greeting the guests was the large Christmas scene in the upper hall, with old Santa Claus saying Merry Christmas. In the downstairs hall was the lighted Christmas tree. Every room was beautifully decorated for the Yuletide season, with the scenes and decorations all made by the pupils. At intervals during the afternoon a chorus of 5th and 6th grade pupils pu-pils sang Christmas carols, and there were readings. Assisting in greeting guests were other members mem-bers of the faculty, Miss Gertrude Western, principal, Mrs. Reva Skid-more, Skid-more, librarian, and Mrs. Underhill, Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Knight, Mrs. Fullmer, Mrs. Cammack, Miss Brown and Mrs. Seegmiller. Refreshments were served from a large lace-covered table, decorated decora-ted with pine and holly, and lit with red tapers. Red and white frosted cake, green punch, mints and nuts, were passed to each guests on gay plates, with the printed message saying "Merry Christmas." |
