A Ir b j A k Union is Building being eing erected on the northwest corner of campus This building will contain rooms for reading rest and study offices for all student activities a large larg large ball hail ball and social center recreation rooms and a cafeteria The University has long needed one building g in which student stu stu- dent activity ca can be centralized Lack of centralization has led I to to friction duplication and waste in the various departments The University has long needed a building in which it itcan itcan i can can hold social events Dances and promenades in the past have be been n taken to the city There is no doubt that the removal of such events vents so far from the campus has diminished enthusiasm and support The University has long needed a building in which students students stu stu- dents can relax during the day The tension of several hours of cl classes with no facilities for Jor the thc student to rest or to change the s scene n surely has had a bad effect on scholarship Former students have keenly felt these needs They have known the diff difficulty culty of getting along without these facilities r And because they knew they y have subscribed t generously to the Union Building fund by means of which the building isnow is isnow r. r now b being ing erected l I Bt But t the alumni will never have the use of the building and F man many y of the thc stude students student ts will gr graduate before its completion Y Yet ct not notwithstanding this fact they all alumni and upperclassmen gave their strongest gest support to the project V.
