Show B FISH AND GAME SCANDAL "" B The facts in the alleged shortage in the m fish and game funds should be probed to m the bottom. A serious reflection has been M cast upon R. H. Sidoway, former state fish M and game commissioner. It is said thai B money received by him for the state in the M sale of beaver pelts is not accounted for. H The charges are serious and warrant a H complete and thorough investigation. H The investigation is necessary in the in- m terest of all concerned. To permit the ri H flection to stand as it is, with no further B action, would not be fair to the public 01 m Mr. Siddoway. The public is entitled to B know whetlier Mr. Siddoway is guilty or B ' innocent of the charges contained in the B informal indictment. B If Mr. Siddoway is innocent of wrong- B doing, and his past reputation for honesty B would indicate he is, he is entitled to a H public apology. If on the other hand, the B charges are wade on a good foundation, a fl full accounting should be had by the state B i It is not sufficient to cover the alleged B shortage by returning money to the state H funds. If the charges are true a crime H has been committed and the people of the H state will expect a full accounting under H the law. H In the public life of Utah there should B be no compromising with crime. The B , state has been kept comparatively free B from graft and the criminal acts witn H which some other states have been aff lict- H ed. This policy must be continued that H faith may be retained in public officials. B To tins end it is necessary to sift the H charges made against Mr. Siddoway to B ' the bottom and take whatever action the facts warrant. If he is innocent he is entitle en-title to a vindication, and if he is guilty he should pay the penalty. The investigation should be concluded quickly in justice to all concerned.
