Show r r n ONE MAN FARMS In conversation with a well known citizen cit-izen of Logan a few days ago he expressed express-ed the belief that the tendency all over this country to reduce, the size of farms h a move in the right direction. He argued that the most profitable farm in the world is a small farm, a, one man fai(m, as he calls it. He said it is more profitable because it is cultivated more closely. And then we told a farmer friend about the conversation and he gave us something to think about- 'He said: "It's folly to talk about dividing up the land in this colntiry into one man farms. The 300 or 400 acre farm can still be operated at a profit,, even at the high cost of farm labor. Besides, the division of the land adjusts itself; it cannot be done by legislation. legis-lation. The big farms will be split up , when it is Jo the advantage of the owner to do so, and not until then, and men will secure for themselves a one-man farm when they find they can live better and have more of the comforts of life that way than in any other way." It's an interesting subject, and a live topic all over this country today, the one-man one-man farm, and we invite our (readers to . express their opinions, , at , reasonable length .through these columns. - |
