It was the plan of tho Brlgham Young Collego this- year to have aB many departments as posslblo represented rep-resented at the county fair. This was not posslblo In all cases as tho teachers had not known In tlmo to savo students work from last year and, too, It was Impossible because there was not sufficient spaco reserved re-served for an exhibit from1 all departments, de-partments, but three or four departments depart-ments who hnd novcr been asked for an exhibit before made very credible showings asd others had material of interest that might well have been displayed bad tho space been largo enough to havo made this .consistent .con-sistent with harmony. An especially good sbowlsg was made. as usual by tho art and domestic arts department depart-ment and rather unlquo displays from tho history, physics, roject and economics departments.. Tho Business. Biology. Geology and Chcm lstry departments had work not placed plac-ed on exhibit because of lack ot space, BecauBo of tho Cache stake vatido-vlllo vatido-vlllo which Is to be held In Nlbley Hall Friday night tho faculty reception recep-tion to tho students has been postponed post-poned for one week. A dance In tho gymnasium would seriously lntorfcr with any performance In Nlbley Hall. Because of tho Increased attendance attend-ance especially In tho third and fourth year classes, new sections have been made In toology, dressmaking dress-making and art. Professor Allred gave the devotional devo-tional talk yesterday morning. His text, was "Invention is the Mother of Necessity." Tho purport, of his talk was that each Individual has within him that which should prompt to Initiative and progress. Professor Otto.. nccompanled by Eileen Thornlcy. rendered a coronet solo In devotional service. As a special fcaturo ot tho fair, tho training school took a number ot tho smaller studonts ond gave a muiiber of special dances on n graB-sy graB-sy plot at tho fair grounds on Monday. Mon-day. This fcaturo was a" very com-.mendablo com-.mendablo exhibit and should havo been advertised that more people could have known about It and seen It. Having barely got started with school work ,tho Brlgham Young Collego decided not to closo la B body for the fair as practically n B students are out early enough out B of tlio throe days to bo able to at- B tend all tho oventB. In cases where B this was not true students were ex. fl ensed. B |
