Show Service- i T HERE is undoubtedly no public service that touches directly 1 so many individuals and enters so completely into the social and 1 i commerciallife of the people as docs telephone service Morebua- 1 I ness is transacted over the telephone than there is through face to f K face conversations. More social activities are planned, more myita- i tions sent, more engagements made or cancelled by telephone than by any other means. 1 ', II This places a tremendous responsibility upon those charged with the 1 1 1 duty of rendering telephone service. Any failure of the service would I j j have a disastrous effect upon both the business and social relations of ' j a community. A general cessation of the service would cause nation- 1 wide confusion. I 'j Telephone employees realize their responsibility and recognize their CI ! obligation. It is this loyalty to duty that makes it possible for the j Telephone Company to render service even under the most difficult " M conditions. - 1 Quite generally there are at this time inadequate facilities causing ,, 1 1 congestion and confusion, a condition from which there can be no $ i immediate relief. Sometimes the elements rage in a mad fury, but J men and women brave the storms that the public may be served. , t Occasionally a scourge of sickness depletes the ranks, adding to the g burden of those who escape, but who perform their more difficult l tasks with smiling determination to continue the service. t I With such a spirit in the telephone organization, the service will at " all times be the best that human effort tan produce, in the face of 1 I whatever adverse circumstances may prevail.
