Show H An Appeal To the Republicans of the Country and B All Those Who Aided Them : H The Republican success in the 1920 election hna been com- K meriHiirate with the quality of our candidates nnd the B righteousness of our cause. B This success is the partnership accomplishment of all Re- B publicans everywhere and of hundreds of thousands of B well-wishers of good government regardless of past B party allihatious. BBB To all of these we now appeal, because it is the mutual B ruspunniLiiity of us all who v. ill .share alike in the con- B sequent mutual benefit of good Government. H ' The plan of limiting campaign contributions to $1,000, H adopted by your national organization, has left your H, paity unmortgaged. Bf It has been a tno.-a advanced step in placing the business of B politics on the highest plane, and has bi ought an inter- H' est on the part of thousands who never before have been H concerned with politics. H Some weeks before election it was apparent that the ex- H- penses provided for in our budget, with the strictest H economy, would exceed the contributions, but we were H unwilling cither to leave undone any legitimate effort H essential to complete success or to change the method H of raising money. We were then sure and we arc now B sure that every Republican desires that the expenses of K the campaign be distributed in this manner. B Your presidential campaign this year cost no more than that BBBV of 101G, when a dollar went nearly twice as far as it K does today. K Four years ago the bulk of the campaign fund came from BBBa 750 contributors, while this year the approximately BH $2,000,000 contributed to date for the presidential BH election has come from 50,000 givers. H The victory won, the raising of the deficit would be easy, BHH indeed, if your committee were willing to abandon the BHH policy of keeping down the average of contribution. BBBB This we are determined not to do. It was a fight of BBBB all the people. The result speaks for itself. It lifted BBBB a burden from the minds of millions and points the BHj way to better and happier days. We ask now for that BHJ additional help from all which is merited both by the BHJ successful conclusion of flic effort and by the consequent BBBB contribution to the welfare of all of our people and the B . glory of the nation. H f Let us now have help from every American who is grateful HBHJ for tho victory and all that it means to the country. It H might well be in the nature of a thanksgiving offering HBHJ for the return to a certainly safe, sane, constitutional HBHJ ' progressive government. B f Let us by general and generous giving put the seal of ap- B ) proval upon the policy of putting a national administra- BBBB I lion in power free from any possible embarrassment of B h special obligation to any man, men or group of men. BBBBV. J Let us make the contribution, whether large or small, B ' and whether or not wo have heretofore given, com- BBHH mensurate with our means and our appreciation, always HBHJ within the maximum limit heretofore fixed. HBHJ Let us get our names on the cornerstone of a sturdier political HBHJ structure, upon tho roll of those who have holnvl make HBHJ possible a campaign of which, in methods and result, HBHJ we may as Republicans and patriots be justly pioud. HHHJ Most earnestly we urge that this aid bo given quickly, that HHHJ your committee may be enabled to discharge the party's HHHJ obligations and turn to further constructive work in be- HBHJ half of party and country.
