The response res-ponse or tho nation to Liberty Loan I drives, tho Ued Cross campaign, and the other national movements tor the winning or tho war havo been a revelation re-velation to attack tuberculosis In the samo magnificent spirit. For years we havo been fighting tuberculosis In tho local piece meal spirit, each community caring tor Its own consumptives In an inadequated way without much regards for what other communities may be doing. Even then, wo accomplished much and tho death rate from tuberculosis has steadily declined. But tho war has brought In Its train a tremendous Increase our forces to meet this new condition. For several years thero has been agitation for tho establishing or a division on tuberculosis In tho national nation-al Public Health Sorvlce. Tho demand tor this step is daily becoming moro Insistent. Tho problom Is too big Tor private organizations to handlo alone. Hut until that Is dono, tho private organizations must contlnuo to bear the burden ot the right. A nationwide nation-wide campaign Is being launched to enlist every man, woman and child In this crusatlo against tho most Insidious, In-sidious, most merciless and, when neglected In tho beginning, tho most hopeless or all diseases.
