Saturday, April 21, tho chairmen of tho committee from practically all tho towns of tho county met at the Commercial-Boosters club for tl). purpose of effecting a central labor and supply bureau. Tho towns woro represented as follows: LowlBton, S. F. Wiser and T. S. Karren; Smlth-flold, Smlth-flold, T. H. Wolfrom and Mr. Scrow-thers; Scrow-thers; Logan, E. It. Owen, Goo. B. Bowon; Providence, A. M. Mathews; Mlllvllle, John Johnson, J. W. Scott ' and Job Smith; Hyrum, Mr. Christ- I onsen; Mt. Sterling, Mr. Parker; Paradise, Samuel Oldham; Wollsvlllo, W. W. Jones; Mendon, W. I. Soron-sen; Soron-sen; Trenton, H. T. Peterson; Cornish, Cor-nish, It. E. Butler. Mr. E. It. Owen was elected as temporary chairman of tho meeting. It was decided that tho central bureau bu-reau or where the executive committee commit-tee will conduct the business for the county be at Logan and that the secretary sec-retary of the Logan bureau act as secretary or managor for the central bureau. By this moans tho committees commit-tees In the various towns will be able to report their needs and supplies to the central bureau. This bureau will act as a clearing house and bring the buyers and sollors together Immediately, Im-mediately, for the whole county. It was further 'decided that the city councils, town boards, and tho bishops, where there are no town organizations, or-ganizations, be responsive to the suggestion sug-gestion that labor and supply bureaus be established and maintained In each town. Tho people In the towns will report their troubles to their local bureaus and in turn thoso bureaus bu-reaus will report to the contral bureau bu-reau at Logan. In many Instances tho local bureaus will be ablo to bring the buyers and sellers togeth- er within tho town and bo a clearing house for tho town. At present tho securing of seodn and tho planting of the crops aro tho all-Important questions. Tho noxt four weeks will determlno to a great extent the amount of tho crops at harvest tlmo. Now is the tlmo to act and act quickly and to this end a canvas of each town will bo made to ascertain what surplus seed or feed tho towns may havo and what they need, and roports bo made to tho secretary of tho Commercial-Boosters Commercial-Boosters club. It is bolloved that by oxchanglng around and calling on tho Belief Societies that enough seed wheat can bo secured. Those who havo a little seed wheat for exchange or to soil, spring wheat preferably, should confer with tho secretary of the Commercial Club at onco. Tho samo applies to seed potatoes and oats. Tho city councils, county commissioners, commis-sioners, and corporations directly benefitted will be aBked to dofray the expenses of maintaining tho bureaus. Temporarily tho headquarters of tho Central bureau will bo at the Commercial-Boosters Club. In a fow days the City Commission will ar-rango ar-rango for other headquarters and a secrotary. The following commlttoo was appointed ap-pointed to wait upon tho sugar companies com-panies and county commissioners for appropriation: W. W. Jones, Wolls"-ville, Wolls"-ville, T. S. Karren, Lewlston, and Boy Bullon, Logan. Next Saturday at 2 p. m. the chairmen of tho committees of the towns will meet at tho Commercial club to select a chairman of tho executive ex-ecutive committee, and to dlscuBs Important Im-portant matters relative to raising crops. |
