Show Hen Mother's Brood of Quails. J. L. Kuotts, who lives ncur Tipton, has a Plymouth Itock hen of such mothirly Instincts that she has adopted adopt-ed a family cf quails when she hus only one chick of her own. The hen was sold to n huckster lrst rebruary and when being taken to market escaped and took up her abodb In a woods near the Kuotts home. She was found again lato In the spring, hut was so wild she could not he caught. Again In Juno Mr. Kuotts was In the woods, and to his surprise found that the runaway had ono chick and sixteen ouug quails. During the summer she cared for tho brood and succeeded in raising ever one of them. Going to tlio woods at night n shoit time ago, Mr. Kuotts succeeded In catching tho hen and chick by throwing a blnukct over them, but tho quails escaped. The chick Is about two-thirds grown and Is becoming domesticated. The quails are old and large c nough to care for themselves nnd will llvo In the woods, but It will bo somo time before they vv 111 forget tho cluck of their foster fos-ter mother.
