The house I was well filled with relatives and I sympathising friends all eager to puy H their last respects to a man well H loved in tho community in which he H has resided so long. H Brother Merrill was horn May 3, H 1850 in tho stato of Now York. Ho camo to Shit Lake City in 1848; H went hack to Missouri In 1849, re- -turn'ng to Salt Lake City in tho year I 1857. On March 8, 1855 he married H Ann Leramons who preceded him to H the great beyond twelve years ago. H Trom Salt Lake he moved to Smith-I Smith-I Held in the fall ot 1850 where he has H Tesided ever since. He was the fa-I fa-I tlier of seven children, five ot which I arc living; thirty-three grand chll-I chll-I dren and fourteen great ' grandcbll-I grandcbll-I dren also survive him. 'The Second ward choir held their banquet and. ball on Thursday night la the Hlllyard opera house. This was one of the social successes ot the season. About two hundred wore present. Tho P. U. D. will meet at Mrs. Lttvon McCann'a home on February 11, an excellent program has . been prepared. Mrs. Maggie Roskolley has been vlsltlngthe past two weeks in Salt Lako City and Brlgham. The Second ward reunion will bo held on Thursday at 10 a.m. dinner wl'l be served and an afternoon program pro-gram carried out. A grand public ball will bo given In tho evening nt the Hlllyard opera house. The First ward will hold their reunion next week. Prof. N. A. Pederson was the speaker at tho M. I. A. conjo'nt meeting on Sunday night. His talk M8 a masterpiece and greatly en-Joyed en-Joyed by the audience. His subject being Books. Our schools will all close on Thursday Thurs-day to give the teachers a chance to 'meet with the teachers from Salt Lake and Ogden and. participants in subjects given at tho Roundup and Housekeepers Conference at the U. A. C. on that day. |
