Show ARRESTED FOR WALKING UP AND DOWN SIDEWALK Now York, April 2D. Tipton Sinclair, Sin-clair, his wife arid thrcd" women were arrested today after a demonstration In front of the offices of John D. Rockefeller, 'Jr., In the Standard Oil building. The prisoners were taken to the Old Slip police station whero Mrs. Sinclair was released. Tbo ohcr women, wo-men, who. wero placod .In cells pending pend-ing tholr arraignment in court, said they were Mrs. Elizabeth Freeman, an English euffragot, who has once been In jail with Mrs. Emmcllne Park hurst; Mrs. Margaret Uemlngtnn Charter and Mrs. Donlo Letltner. All had been arrested on, tho sldowalk in front of 25 Broadway. I wasn't doing a thing but walking up and down In the street with a piece of crepe on my arm, said Sinclair. Sin-clair. A policeman stopped mo and aid If I did not stop walking I would have to go along with him. I told the policeman I did not see any rea son why 1 should stop walking and he promptly placed me and my asso elates under arrest. She was Joined on the sidewalk by Upton Sinclair, who wore a bit of crepe on his arm in pursuance of a plan announced an-nounced at a Socialist mass meeting last night, where it was agreed that mourners should gather in front of the Standard Oil building as a protest against the sacrifice of lives in Colorado.
