Wilson and two other councllmen hastened to aairre tho governor's omlsary of their anxiety anx-iety to aid her. Miss Hobbs was plainly nervous but she proceeded at once to the business In hand., "It was reported to Governor Weat, she told Mayor Wilson "that a saloon Is being run opstaly here m defiance of the legally registered verdict of the voters that It be abolished. It also Is reported to the governor that liquor is sold to drunkards over the protest of their wives and to minors. Can you tell me If these charges are true?" "It Is true a saloon is In operation hero," replied the governor. "It Is also true that Cove voted dry at tho late county prohibition election. But tho county as a whole voted wet and wo are Informed that tho county judge believed the result in tho county coun-ty governed all precincts Including this ono, and so did not declaro the result of tho election here.
