Six Point League, New "York representatives of 623 leading newspapers news-papers the effect of the war on newspaper news-paper advertising was freely discussed discuss-ed and members present testified as tp their "individual experiences. tx Point league members do v business with-advertlsers.lna large varlety.ot lines and' meet manufactuera and dealers throughout Jhe .entire, east, aad it is of Interest to record that the feeling was deeliedly optimistic and general tone encouraging. It" was shown that steamship and travel advertising ad-vertising comprise the bulk' of business busi-ness that baa been definitely cancelled cancell-ed and. that advertisers not Intimately Intimate-ly affected by lack ot ocean transportation transpor-tation were going ahead with their fall campaigns. Contracts already made are of normal proportions. The fuct that crops are good and the mac-ket mac-ket ready for them; that the freight rate Is settled that the new currency law Is soon to be In operation; and that new export mnrkets are not, to bo open for our trade, means large wealth for the producers of this country coun-try and good business for those who seek It in a'reasonable manner. It waB evident from some reports that in some lines of trade, readjustment readjust-ment to new conditions would be necessary, but with our sound basis this should not greatly Interfere with prosperity. It was the sense of the meeting that the advertising world would be encouraged by a knowledge of tho facts brought out. |
