Show Winners of the Western Handicap Contest Among tha Closest In flteeh Trapshootlng Annals Trapshooters all over the country regard the Western Handicap as one ot the halt dozen biggest events in a branch ot sport which is growing In popularity by leaps and bounds They look forward to this shoot as bnseball fans and players look forward for-ward to a major league championship series, and its results aro talked of for many weeks afterward. Tho ninth annual Western Handicap tournament tourna-ment was decided this month over tho traps of the Green Bay Game and Gun Club at Green Bay, Wisconsin, nnd furnished as keen and exciting contests as could possibly bo usked. Frank Schwalbe, u La Crosse, Wisconsin Wis-consin amateur, captured the .Western Handicap the premier contest ot the tournament, shooting a Remington pump gun and Nltro Club shells and making tho remarkable scpre of 99 out of 100 targets nt 19 yards. So keen was the race for high honors thnt first plnce was not settled until tho seventeenth squad had finished competing nt trap No. 5. J. F. Caldwell of Concordia, Kansas, Kan-sas, with n Remington pump gun and Arrow shells, won tho Preliminary Handicap by breaking 98 out of a possible) 100, shooting from tho 20 yard mark. Caldwell nlso had a lon run o 102 straight. Another of tho brilliant nmatcurs at Green Bay was F. G. Fuller of Mukwonago, Wisconsin, shooting a Remington gun for second place In the Western Handicap, 96 out of 100 at 20 yards; the high average record on 16 yard targets, 340 out of 350; the high av erago record on all targets, including handicaps and doubles, 644 out ot 700; and tho longest Btrhlght Tun, 128. Such records indicate tho high class work that, characterized this tournament. One hundred and seventeen sev-enteen different shooters competed and there were 95 entries in the Western Wes-tern Handicap. The tournament was finely handled by Elmer E. Shaner of the Interstate Trapshootlng Association. Asso-ciation.
