Show DOE8 THE PREACHER EARN HI8 SALARY? In the February Woman's Home Companion a contributor writes the following: With few exceptions the great number num-ber of clergymen I have mot or known havo been men of mediocre ability without training to fit them to deal with real problems of Ufo. The Blblo l.i usually considered as Inspired in ovory lino, without consideration of either the time or circumstances under un-der which it was compiled. In too mnny of tho preachers charity Is lacking; tho God whom they preach Is n God ot fear, Incapnblo of Inspiring lovo or unselfish devotion to duty. I do not attend church becauso I received re-ceived no benefit In any way. I never nev-er felt Inspired to worship, simply becauso I went to church at a sot hour on Sunday morning and endured n tlresomo expounding of tho Scriptures Scrip-tures by a man who had no moro ability than tho average layman. I havo llttlo respect for tho averago clergyman; usually ho Is getting more monoy than ho could get It ho had to cam a livelihood. |
