BOND RE8T CASE One of Her Witnesses Frankly, Admitted Ad-mitted That He Held Enmity Against Senator Gore Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Feb: 13 Counsel for Mrs. Minnie Pond. who Is suing Senator Thomas P.. Goro for $50,000 damages as tho result of an alleged assault in a Washington hotel, ho-tel, rested their case today. Jajnes K. Jacobs who was expected to be one of the principal witnesses In the case was called. It was announced that Jacobs will bo used In rebuttal. T. E. Robertson, former law partner part-ner of Ross Llllard, chief ot counsel for the plaintiff, was recalled as a witness today in the hearing ot the $30,000 damage suit brought by Mrs. Minnie Bond, against United States Senator Thomas P. Gore in the district dis-trict court here. Witness Held EnnMiy Robertson was'belng questioned by tho attorneys for Senator Goro when court adjourned yesterday. He admitted ad-mitted enmity toward the senator because, be-cause, tho witness asserted, Gore had promised to use his influence In behalf be-half of H. A. Roger y of Oklahoma, mentioned as a candidate for secretary secre-tary ot the Interior but had failed to do so. Robertson was called as an ejo witness 'to Indignities which Mrs. Bond alleges wero offered h'er by Senator Gore In Washington last March and on which her suit labased' t Thewitness gave practically ,the samo .testimony as Klrby,Fltzpatrlck who preceded him, relating that ho witnessed the alleged attack' on tho woman, which ia said to havo occurred occur-red In a Washington hotel. Robertson, FItzpatrIck, Mrs, Bond nnd Dr. J. H. Earp, another witness for the plaintiff yesterday, nil declared de-clared (hoy wero in Washington on political missions to obtain appointments appoint-ments to federal positions and all failed. It is tho contention of Senator Sen-ator Goro's attorney that tho present pres-ent suit Is a result of political intrigue James Jacob, former Democratic national committeeman from tho Indian In-dian Territory waB to bo called after Robertson's' cross examination U finished. fin-ished. It was In Jacob's room that Mrs. Bond alleges that the senator attacked her. , Mrs. Core accompanied the senator sena-tor to the courtroom and sat beside him. Senator Evaded Service 'Shortly aftor Robertson took the stand to continue bis testimony he was excused temporarily and Deputy Sheriff Ezell was called. The witness testified that tho senator had evaded evad-ed servlco of the papers In Mrs. Bond's suit, and that ho was prevented prevent-ed from seeing tho senator by a number num-ber of friends of tho latter who barred bar-red tho door to Gore's room In a local lo-cal hotel. Sheriff Binlon was called and testified tes-tified that ho took tho papers and went to see Gore but mot the samo treaties. Late ht night, however, ho said ho caught sight of tho senator sena-tor in tho hotel and served tho papers on him. |
